Synopsis

YACHT ROCKIN’ brings together an all-star lineup of Southwest Florida’s premier musicians, whose collective credits include working and recording with members of Steely Dan, Yes, The Moody Blues, Bon Jovi, Goo Goo Dolls and Sly Stone, as well as Glenn Frey.

Together, they’ll recreate the sophisticated, jazz-influenced rock, soaring vocals and silky-smooth harmonies that defined an unforgettable era of popular music.

Audiences can expect favorites from Ambrosia, Toto, America, Michael McDonald, Gary Wright, Steely Dan, Christopher Cross and many more—all performed live by exceptional vocalists and instrumentalists with plenty of room for the musicianship and incredible soloists that made this music so distinctive.

THE MUSICIANS

Darrell Nutt — Drums / Musical Director

Drummer, producer, recording engineer and sound designer Darrell Nutt has spent more than three decades working in studios and on stages around the world. His credits include recording and performing with members of Steely Dan, Yes, The Moody Blues and Goo Goo Dolls, among many others. As Musical Director for YACHT ROCKIN’, Darrell brings together the players, arrangements and production behind the show. He also performs with keyboardist Matt Baxley in the Southwest Florida duo THE MOOTS.

James Albritton — Guitar / Vocals

Sarasota-based James Albritton is an exceptional guitarist and vocalist whose career includes performing with Glenn Frey and Counting Crows. Equally at home delivering a soaring lead vocal or laying into a guitar solo, James brings the combination of musicianship and vocal ability essential to the classic Yacht Rock sound.

Matt Baxley — Keyboards / Guitar / Vocals

Matt Baxley is a multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, synthesizer expert and programmer whose work has included programming for major synthesizer companies. His command of keyboards, guitar, vocals and electronic sound gives YACHT ROCKIN’ an enormous musical palette—particularly important for recreating the sophisticated studio arrangements of the era. Matt also performs with Darrell Nutt as THE MOOTS.

Hunter McDaniel — Keyboards / Guitar / Vocals

Independent recording artist and multi-instrumentalist Hunter McDaniel brings a soulful voice and contemporary musical sensibility to YACHT ROCKIN’. A singer, songwriter and recording artist with several albums to his credit, Hunter moves effortlessly between keyboards, guitar and vocals while adding his own musical personality to the ensemble.

Jennifer Mazziotti — Saxophone

Jennifer Mazziotti is a sought-after saxophonist whose musical background includes studies at the USF and North Texas State. Her versatility, musicianship and expressive playing make her an ideal fit for the sophisticated jazz, pop and R&B influences woven throughout the Yacht Rock catalog.

Steve Friedman — Bass Guitar

In-demand bassist Steve Friedman provides the foundation of YACHT ROCKIN’s rhythm section. A seasoned player whose credits include performing with Sly Stone, Steve brings the deep pocket, musical instincts and versatility needed to navigate everything from Steely Dan-inspired grooves to polished West Coast pop.
